Are you in a GIS field of work, do you have Landsat 5 or Landsat 7 scenes and you want to know the geometric accuracy? Then this tool is the answer.
This tool is called landsat_verify and runs in Linux. It is based on the USGS LPGS components packed into a easy to use tool.
Features:
- Works with Landsat 5 TM and Landsat 7 ETM+ scenes.
- Uses GLS_2000 reference images for image to image comparison.
- Input scenes can be either in FAST or GeoTIFF.
- Gives complete results in text files and generates a browse image for easy visual inspection.
Requires:
- Either Centos 5.4 64bit or Ubuntu 9.04 64bit
- imagemagick
- libmagick10
- gls-1.6

Rank 1 is Green: total residual <= 0.5
Rank 2 is Cyan: 0.5 < total residual <= 1
Rank 3 is Blue: 1 < total residual <= 2

Rank 5 is Red: 5 < total residual
Instruction on how to use the tool:
- First install the landsat_verify tool. If you are running Centos then download the RPM package, and if you are running Ubuntu download the DEB package.
- The basic usage is:
landsat_verify <-i pathToBandFile> <-m pathToMTL> <-g pathToGLSdataset>
- You can download a sample with complete instruction here: landsat_verify_sample.tar.gz
- Extract the sample and run the following command from a terminal.
landsat_verify -i "input_scene/L72173063_06320020707_B70.TIF" -m "input_scene/L71173063_06320020707_MTL.txt" -g "GLS_2000/"
